It’s never good to lose your debit card (available to UK residents only), least of all while you’re travelling in a foreign country. Your debit card is your way of spending money, and if it’s gone, then you can be in quite a pickle. Fortunately, there are steps that you can take to mitigate the problem and ensure that your holiday can still go on.

  1. Don’t panic

The simplest step, and the one that’s most forgotten. While losing your debit card (available to UK residents only) is understandably a cause for serious concern, the fact of life is that panicking about your debit card won’t make it reappear. The best thing to do is to take a deep breath, centre yourself mentally, and then proceed onto step two.

  1. Do a quick sweep

Do a quick sweep of your surroundings and your belongings. Search through your bags, wallets, and anywhere else where you might have stored your debit card (available to UK residents only) on your person. Sometimes you’ve just misplaced it, or you didn’t see it in your wallet. A last-minute look through your belongings could save you much more hassle later down the line.

  1. The last resort

If you’ve swept around and the debit card (available to UK residents only) still hasn’t come up, then it’s time for the last resort. Terminating your card isn’t a great ending, but it’s a necessary one to ensure that your hard-earned money doesn’t end up being drained away by someone else. Simply go into your iFAST GB app, tap on the “View Debit Card” button, then tap “Manage Card”, then “Replace Card”, “My Card Details", then finally “Terminate Card”. Your iFAST Global Bank debit card will be instantly terminated, so anyone who picks it up will find it unusable.

Down but not out

While an unusable debit card (available to UK residents only) normally means no more spending, iFAST ensures that you can still use your money. With Worldwide Scan & Pay, you can pay participating merchants at no extra fees, so long as they display the Alipay+ logo. This ensures that you can still settle your bills, regardless of the situation. Worldwide Scan & Pay isn’t connected to your iFAST Global Bank debit card, meaning that regardless of the status of your debit card, Worldwide Scan & Pay will allow you to spend freely.

Scan & Pay is for cross-currency payments only. Availability of QR payments may vary by country and merchant. T&Cs apply.

The bank with a built-in backup

Going on holiday should be a relaxing experience. Just because you lose one debit card (available to UK residents only), that doesn’t mean that you should go into your next holiday with several backups, and more banking apps than you know what to do with. iFAST Global Bank ensures that your backup is already built-in, meaning that you don’t need to worry about a bunch of spare debit cards, and can focus more on your holiday.
