What is an ISA?
An Individual Savings Account (ISA) is a tax-efficient savings or investment account that operates under HMRC ISA rules.
Different ISA products may have different features, eligibility requirements and account terms.
What is the current ISA allowance?
For the 2026/27 tax year, the annual ISA allowance is £20,000.
The allowance applies across eligible ISA subscriptions made during the tax year.
Unused ISA allowance cannot normally be carried forward.
Can you subscribe to more than one ISA?
Current ISA rules allow eligible individuals to subscribe to more than one ISA during the tax year, subject to HMRC ISA rules and individual provider terms.
The combined subscriptions count towards the annual ISA allowance.
Do ISA transfers use your allowance?
Official ISA transfers generally do not count as new ISA subscriptions and therefore do not normally use your annual ISA allowance.
Provider terms and HMRC ISA rules apply.
